INDIA - Finance Minister K.M. Mani has assured poultry farmers in
Kerala that he will look into the issue of tax on poultry birds.
At an interactive session with farmers at the ongoing Poultry Expo, Mr Mani said he would soon convene a meeting of farmers to sort out the issue, according to The Hindu.
He said the recent budgetary allocation of Rs. 4 crore for starting a parent stock supply facility in Kasaragod would help change the poultry production scenario in the State.
Earlier in the day, experts leading a seminar-cum-interactive session for poultry farmers called for adoption of industry-scale farming to overcome the problems faced by the sector.
