Domestic sugar prices (ex-mill Maharashtra) have been on a downward trend after reaching a high of Rs 33.8 per kg in August 2012.
By end-Jan 2014, domestic prices had slipped to Rs 26 per kg on account of excess supply in the domestic market since SS 2012-13 coupled with no exports (due to relatively lower international prices).
